oh, croatia

making dinner last night..

view from my hostel. gelato. mmmmmmmmm.

this was a tradition croatian meal that i had with my new friend kathryn, shes great and the food was good too.

croatia is GORGEOUS. most beautiful place ive been so far and im having an unbelievable time here. i was also here the other night when croatia beat poland in soccer and the streets were crazy with people cheering and screaming, it rivaled when the white sox won in chicago. i met a couple new friends here that have been amazing, God blesses me so much. i am currently on hvar island and yesterday i took a ferry out to another island for some quality beach time. it felt so great to relax. today i hiked up to the top of the hvar castle and was on the beach for a little bit, but this afternoon i went on one of the most beautiful/best runs of my life (if only you could have been there with me, mom, that would have been tops!) im hoping to go on another one tomorrow and take pictures for you all. here are a few snapshots from the past couple of days. i will leave hvar tomorrow night for split and then the next day take a boat to venice!!

wholl stop the rain?

its funny how God always brings me the right people in life at just the right moments. I met Ada and Chris while cooking my last package of instant soup in the hostel kitchen. After discovering that Ada worked as a graphic designer in seattle we had an instant connection and began discussing music and politics. to my delight she mentioned that her and chris were going to the john fogery show that night because they had seen a poster for it. i had also seen this poster, so after some more conversation we walked 10 minutes from our hostel to where he was playing and i have to say the rest of the night was pure bliss. fogerty put on one of the best shows ive ever seen. here are a few of the songs he played - fortunate son, who will stop the rain, down on the corner, heard it through the grapevine, have you ever seen the rain, lookin out my back door. the whole experience was so thrilling and nostalgic for me. between the lights, the fiddle and cowboy hats, my soul was dancing that night.

ljubljana & bled

me after hiking to the top of the ljubljana castle, this is the view over the city :)
the water was crystal clear at bled

i did a ton of walking!! it was great.

this is me getting really excited thinking i had finally found a hiking trail up one of the mountains in bled, however after this picture i sadly realized that this was another path that led to a highway. I still managed to hike around a little though.

i've been out walking..

hello all! sorry for the delay, i've made it in safe to slovenia and have had THE most amazing time here. i thought that it would be the natural beauty in this place that would captivate me, but like with most places in my life it has been the people.
here are a few pictures from my last day in prague..

i was able to travel to a small town today called bled, it had a beautiful lake and majestic mountains, unfortunately the weather was another story, it was raining and so incredibly cold. i'm afraid i didn't pack for such frigid temps. the pictures from today will have to be posted tomorrow when i arrive in zagreb, croatia...

talk to you all then!

i'm starting to prefer mineral water..

i am currently watching my last prague sunrise for a while. i've had such an amazing time here. in case you all were wondering cora and i headed out for vienna just to see bob dylan the other day and oh man that was awesomeeee. we headed back to prague that night on a 3.30 am train! it was a little crazy. cora left for the states yesterday morning and in the afternoon i went on a free tour of prague, the city is so beautiful. on this tour i met some really cool people who i wound up hanging out with the rest of the night. my new friends consist of two brazillian guys, an aussie girl and a canadian guy, they are just great and we had such a blast, it really makes me not want to leave this place. last night we all had a traditional czech dinner together and mine consisted of goulash with bread dumplings that had an almost stewish consistency. it was so goooooood.
as i am leaving this place to catch my 13 hour train ride today, i know that i will miss it here and definitely want to come back - this is a place i could see myself wanting to live.
i hope to finish a couple of books on this train ride and next time i write you will be from slovenia!!

cheers!

dylan in vienna!!!

so last night cora and i saw bob dylan in vienna!!!!! this was literally a dream come true for me. he played so many of my favorite songs including it's alright ma, masters of war, love minus zero/no limit, meet me in the morning and he even covered another one of my favorites by hank williams - beyond the sunset. the performance was so surreal, a little rough around the edges like most of his later stuff but just lovely in every way. he is one of my top 3 of all time and i got to see him in austria!!!! i feel SO blessed!
