you belong among the wildflowers

well my time at the english l'abri is coming to a close and i am sad about it. i have listened to some mind blowing lectures on sacraments in the present day and cynicism, i feel so enlightened today and am left knowing more of myself because i know more of my creator.

billy you would love it here, everything reminds me of you - to the british accents (which you would sound so natural with) to the cups of tea every hour while listening to sacred music and the endless hours of theology - this place has boody written all over it. you have to visit here, i've already told almost everyone that i'm planning on you coming one day. :)

i know i am moving forward in such a different place and with new and exciting thoughts. my time here was too good for words.

this is my dream house that i saw on a hike in through the country side.
my new friend, tara, who kept me company while gardening.
me gardening at l'abri yesterday, sooo much fun!
where i sleptthe study where i made new discoveries that i will further and carry with me on this trip.

i love and miss you all! next time i will be writing you from belgium.

love,
betsy

shelter from the storm

hello all! thank you for the lovely comments, they make me smile so much :) i'm in l'abri now and truely feeling so liberated. i won't go into detail on this public blog of all my spiritual awakenings but i have already read a couple books since being here, one is "Can Man Live Without God?" by Ravi Zacharius (i would recommend this book to anyone, very clear defense for the existence of God) and the other is "Pollution and the Death of Man, The Christian View of Ecology" by Francis A. Schaefer. Here is just one quote from that one that is pretty cool, he talked a ton about naure vs. man and how they are unified through creation and our role in it, ahhhh, so cool.

"What people do about their ecology depends on what they think about themselves in relation to things arond them. Human ecology is deeply conditioned by beliefs about our nature and our destiny - that is by religion."

i keep getting told i have an accent. really?!

hey guys! i made it safe to london!! after sharpening up my french skills in montreal (billy you would be proud of my effort) and reading a super inspiring book on the plane ride i had one hour of sleep the whole way and have been perusing the london shopping district for the past few hours. it is amazing how fashion conscious everyone is here, really great but so different.

my theme for this trip is how my identity in Christ is translated into my generation and into this culture. i have already been doing some serious soul searching and questioning so much, it is very freeing.
i will be posting pictures tomorrow of this day that are capturing some interesting moments!!

a cool quote i read and really hit home - "God has an incredibly high view of people. God believes that people are capable of amazing things. I have been told that I need to believe in Jesus. Which is a good thing. But what I am learning is that Jesus believes in me. I have been told that I need to have faith in God. Which is a good thing. But what I am learning is that God has faith in me." ---- this truth is incredible to me.

oh and mik, your granola is AMAZING, i don't think it will last me through bruges..
